Billy Ray Cyrus is naast zanger ook een bekende acteur. Billy wordt op 25 augustus 1961 geboren in Flatwoods (Kentucky). Al op jonge leeftijd begint hij met zingen, geïnspireerd voor de bluegrass en gospelmuziek die zijn ouders luisteren.
Nadat hij een concert van Neil Diamond had bezocht wist hij het zeker, hij wilde ook een muziekant worden. In de jaren tachtig maakt hij onderdeel uit van de band Sly Dogs, een band vernoemd naar Billy’s hond. Dit arme dier had slechts één oog.
Met “Achy Breaky Heart” en “Some Gave All” behaalt hij zijn grootste successen.
